By My cousin Andrea told me on the weekend that you can now text Australia from your b-mobile phone here in PNG. I gave it a go and sent a message to a mate in Australia and the message wasn’t rejected so it must be working now. (I haven’t got a reply yet will try another number).
Anyone else know about this or has had luck texting Australia??
Oh and when you text your number start with 61 NOT 0561

Yeah not sure if it’s working too cos I tried 2 other numbers and still no reply..anyway looks like I’ll just have to stick to my private SMS service. Give us your mobile number and I’ll text you from it.

Yes it does work! I’ve been texting friends and family in Sydney, Canberra and Cairns. I think it depends on what network they’re with in Oz ,Telstra seems to work. My friend who is with Virgin received my text but couldn’t reply.

Well I guess that’s some progress…but I usually just use my messagenet service to text friends in Australia.

Been using it for about 3 years now and it’s great, just sent you a text with it. It’s actually email to SMS.

According to Peter Loko from Telikom…..he says, the only people in Australia who are able to receive text and respond are Telstra users. Other users of Vodafone, etc…..have not made any commitment with Telikom to open the service as yet.
But talks have already been started and when Vodafone and the lot have agreed to join Telstra with the service….Telikom will make a public announcement. But for now…..no annoucement will be made untill they are on all on board.

Well ive looked into it and a friend of mine txt Oz, however only on Telstra. She txt right in front of me and got a reply. Ive tried it and it didnt work for me. I even called Customer Service and they said we can’t txt Oz. So if they dont know whats going on with their own server, then im switching to Digicel asap…
