Digicel, PNG’s Bigger, Better Network, would like to advise its customers that Text Messages sent from Digicel to Bemobile were undelivered since Sunday 10th October, 2009. This is due to the fact that Bemobile’s network is not receiving text messages from Digicel network and it is beyond Digicel’s control.
Digicel has raised this issue with Bemobile and Telikom and is yet to receive a response from Bemobile.
We would like to inform our customers that we have now temporarily suspended Text Message Service from Digicel to Bemobile until further notice. This suspension of Service is done to ensure our customers are not charged for undelivered messages to Bemobile. We regret any inconvenience it may cause.
The Text Message Service from Digicel to Digicel will continue to work as usual.

MEDIA STATEMENT: DIGICEL NETWORK IS NOT THE CAUSE OF TELIKOM’S LANDLINE CALL FAILURES
Digicel refutes claims that call failures experienced by Telikom’s landline customers to some cities around PNG have resulted from Digicel blocking these landline calls via its bigger, better network.
According to Digicel, because Telikom is not sending their calls correctly to the Digicel Network when any Telikom landline customer, is trying to dial Digicel numbers thus causing network connections in some cities to fail. In this regard, Digicel is unable to connect these calls to their valued customers in those cities.
Digicel has raised this matter with Telikom on several occasions, requesting for Telikom to send its calls correctly so Digicel can connect them to the customers in all the cities.
To date, Telikom has failed to address this issue.
Digicel is working with Telikom on alternative means to connect the calls and hopes that Telikom will resolve this matter.

Observer
Common sense should prevail here.
* How is it possible that suddenly Telikom misdirects (send its calls to the
wrong destination) after 11th October 2009, the day bemobile switched
over to its new network?
Telikom reported most of its centres customers not being able to make
calls to Digicel.
* It’s logical that, at least some level of interruptions were expected
between Digicel and bemobile because bemobile were the onces who cut
over their network on October 11.
* If bemobile’s callers were able to make calls to Telikom and vise versa
after the cut over date, how then did digicel allegedly turn off routes to
both Telikom and bemobile?
It looks plausible as an observer that Digicel deliberately turned off its routes to bemobile and Telikom so as to make to good bad that bemobile’s cutover to the new network was catastrophic?
However, it doing so, Digicel apparently left traces of its misdeeds by turning off the wrong routes facing Telikom.
Without venturing into the complicated techie stuff, common sense has it that, Digicel are the culprits here.

I’d say they both don’t have to make an issue of it. Just fix it and get on with the show…
