I have allot of old memories in the 80’s of scouring up the mountains to my Dad’s village in East Sepik. This always involved an old Toyota J40 and of course allot of pushing of the car to help it get through the wet muddy terrain on the worst parts of the mountain of Wautogik village.
Over the years, the J40 gave away to hiluxes and more and more land cruisers and the poor J40 model finally ended production in 2001.
But as is the way with the recycling of classics, Toyota has decided that (perhaps also since the Hummer’s decline) we deserved to have a new Toyota Cruiser very much in the spirit of the J40. So hence the introduction of the FJ Cruiser which began its release in (obviously) the US in 2007.
It will obviously cost around the same price as a small house in Port Moresby, but hey anything so that I don’t have to get out and push the car will do me fine.
