Sites in Kimbe and Kiunga upgraded to Digicel’s high speed 3G technology

Digicel continues to extend its 3G network coverage to more areas in PNG and the latest to go on air with the high speed technology  are Kimbe and Kiunga.

Over the weekend, two towers in Kimbe; one at the Kimbe Police Baracks and the other at Mt. Huviki were upgraded and are now on air while in Kiunga, those within the range of the tower situated at the Provincial Government area can now enjoy high speed internet services following the upgrade of the site to 3G also last weekend.

Now with 3G access, people located in and around these sites in Kimbe and Kiunga can now enjoy a much faster and effective data transmission via wireless access in a speed leading up to 2Mbps; giving them a high degree of connectivity and networking. Downloading latest songs, video clips and games will be much faster, taking only a few seconds or minutes to complete download.

Digicel customers within the range of these sites can access internet on their mobile phones at a faster rate using Digicel’s high speed 3G network.

Digicel PNG CEO-John Mangos said; “As the next phase of our 3G upgrade program continues to rollout in provinces throughout the country, more and more Papua New Guineans are now provided with a faster and effective network which allows them to browse the internet and download their favourite songs and videos at the fastest speed available in the country regardless of whether a customer is in the urban or rural area.

To date, a total of 64 Digicel sites have been upgraded to 3G technology to date and are currently on air in seven provinces nationwide while two more are scheduled under this next phase rollout program and will follow soon.
