Report: Feeding Port Moresby

Download Feeding Port Moresby study (pdf 1.1mb)

The purpose of this report is to provide a sub-sector analysis of the fresh produce market in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) in order to inform government and private sector planning, specifically in the areas of extension and marketing infrastructure.

A central finding of this project was that the majority of fresh produce was supplied from sources local to Port Moresby, and not from the Highlands.

Both the Fresh Produce Development Agency (FPDA) and the PNG Sustainable Development Program (PNGSDP) were involved in the study. The FPDA is a semi-autonomous public entity which aims to develop a commercially viable and sustainable horticulture industry in PNG. The PNG Sustainable Development Program (PNGSDP) was established by the Government of Papua New Guinea in 2002 to support sustainable development programs benefiting the people of Papua New Guinea and in particular the people of Western Province.
